Resumen.
La Universidad Autónoma de Coahuila ha puesto en marcha de manera institucional la asignatura de CIUDADANÍA dentro del currículo de la Educación media y superior; lo cual sin duda es un gran avance en la formación de auténticos ciudadanos participativos que nuestro país requiere con urgencia; ciudadanos formados en virtudes cívicas y conocimientos sobre mecanismos que les permitan realmente incidir en el diseño, ejecución y evaluación de políticas públicas en cualquiera de los tres ámbitos de gobierno, sin embargo, el esfuerzo aún no es suficiente, pues nos enfrentamos a dos grandes retos: el primero es la resistencia de la planta docente de las diversas escuelas a la capacitación adecuada en los contenidos temáticos de esta materia, y en segundo lugar a la necesidad de implementar una política transversal que inmiscuya a la mayoría de las asignaturas en la formación de ciudadanos, pues la responsabilidad de la formación cívica no puede recaer en una sola asignatura y un solo profesor por institución. Sobre estos retos disertaremos en las siguientes líneas.

Abstract.
The Autonomous University of Coahuila has institutionally launched the course of CITIZENSHIP within the core curriculum of upper secondary education and university; which is certainly a great advance in the development of authentic participatory citizens that our country urgently requires; qualified citizens in civic virtues and knowledge about mechanisms that allow them to really influence the design, performance and evaluation of public policies in any of the three areas of government, however, the effort is still not enough, since we are facing two great challenges: the first is the resistance of the teaching staff of several schools to adequate training in course content, in the second place the requirement to implement a transversal policy that involves most of the courses in the guidance of citizens, since the responsibility of civic education may not fall on a single course and a single teacher per institution. We will discuss these challenges in the following lines.
