Resumen
El objetivo del presente estudio fue evaluar el efecto del extracto acuoso de Taraxacum officinale
(diente de león) sobre la actividad inhibitoria en el proceso de hidrolisis del almidón mediante la
enzima α-amilasa, y pruebas cualitativas de sustancias fitoquímicas para identificar los compuestos
en los cuales podrían estar presentes los inhibidores. Con estas pruebas se logró identificar los
componentes del extracto por familias. Se realizó el ensayo de inhibición a distintas
concentraciones del extracto. Los porcentajes de inhibición obtenidos podrían ser prometedores,
ya que al compararlos con el fármaco de referencia no muestra una diferencia significativa.

Abstract
The objective of the present study was to evaluate the effect of the extract of Taraxacum officinale
(dandelion) on the inhibitory activity in the process of hydrolysis of starch by the enzyme α-
amylase, and its phytochemical characterization qualitative tests for phytochemical compounds.
Then, the main components of the extract were identified by compound families. The inhibition
test is carried out at different concentrations. The inhibition percentages obtained could be
promising, since when compared with the reference drug it does not show a significant difference.
